Glenn Murcutt – extraordinarily ordinary A lecture by Lindsay Johnston Entrance €6/3.
Johnston is the founder and Convener of the Architecture Foundation Australia which has organised the tour of the exhibition ‘Glenn Murcutt : Architecture for Place’. the Foundation also presents the annual Glenn Murcutt International Master Class with Glenn Murcutt and other eminent Australian architects.
Johnston is the former Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Building and Design at the University of Newcastle. He worked in research and architectural practice in Ireland prior to emigrating to Australia in 1986. He has been recipient of a number of awards for environmentally responsive buildings, some of which have been published internationally. He is former National Councillor of the Australian Institute of Architects, Chair of the AIA National Environment Committee and National Education Committee and received the 2002 AIA National Education Award for his contribution to architectural education. He has written and lectured on issues of environmental sustainability and education. He is a visiting Professor at the University of Newcastle, Australia.

Rakennetaan puutarha! -City Gardening Project
In the summer 2013 the courtyard between Museum of Finnish architecture and Design Museum will be taken over by a city gardening project. Garden will be opened on the Helsinki Day 12 June when all the citizens of Helsinki are invited to take part in planting the garden. Project is organised by Rakennetaan kaupunki! – children’s architecture education group and Lasten ja nuorten puutarhayhdistys.

Fantastic Norway: Views on Nordic Architecture
A lecture by Fantastic Norway, one of the participants in the Light Houses –exhibition. Fantastic Norway was founded in 2004 by Håkon Matre Aasarød and Erlend Blakstad Haffner. Their primary ambition was to create an open, inclusive and socially aware architectural practice and to re-establish the role of the architect as an active participant in and a builder of society. In the wake of the terrorist attacks on Utøya 22 July 2011, Fantastic Norway have been working closely with the Labor Youth Party with designing a strategy for re-establishing a political camp on the island of Utøya.

Eero Saarinen –Honorary Lecture
The annual honorary lecture organised by the Museum of Finnish Architecture celebrates Eero Saarinen’s legacy as a forward looking ambitious innovator by inviting young practicing architects with international recognition to speak about their work, career and influences. The lecturer, who is selected in collaboration with the previous lecturer, will be announced in June 2013. Lecture will be organised as a part of Helsinki Design Week 2013.
Tickets will go on sale in August.
