The research done at the Museum is connected to exhibitions and to special projects. It focuses on the museum's collections and thus on Finnish architecture from the turn of the 20th century onward. According to its duties as a national specialist museum, the Museum of Finnish Architecture works in collaboration with other research institutions, collections and private researchers and advances Finnish architectural research. Educational institutions and others are offered research subjects whose study can take advantage of the Museum's collections.

Research results are published in exhibitions, publications and lectures. Related to research, the museum organises city walks and sightseeing tours.
