About the Introductory Presentation
Adaptive use – How to use the already built as a resource? Gjuteriet is located in the old industrial harbour of Malmö, a district which is now becoming a new sustainable neighbourhood called Varvsstaden. By adding new timber structures and recycled elements to the existing building, the historical landmark is to be transformed into an innovative, open public meeting place.
Stefan Sjöberg is a founding director of Kjellander Sjöberg architects, a diverse international practice with integrated workshops and studios in Stockholm, Malmö and London. He has led KS towards establishing a sustainable and community-driven approach based on planetary boundaries and innovation. Stefan balances an energetic and reflective focus on large scale urban projects, transformations, residential developments promoting timber construction as well as on creating public realm opportunities.
Established 1998 in Stockholm, Kjellander Sjöberg is a multi-nationality medium-sized office, led by partners Mi Inkinen, Ola Kjellander and Stefan Sjöberg. The award-winning office has continuously been recognised for its influence in contemporary architecture, urban practice and the architectural discourse.
