Decades of Finnish Architecture 1900–1970

Guided Tour in the Museum of Finnish Architecture Building

The exhibition takes its visitors on a journey into the Finnish architecture of the 20th century. Different features, technical solutions, materials and interior design are followed from decade to decade; from National Romanticism to Classicism and Functionalism, through the Modernism that created the country’s international reputation to the architecture of the 1970’s.

The exhibition has been enriched through the Arkkitehtuurin monet tarinat (Many Stories of Architecture) Project, in which the Museum of Finnish Architecture collaborated with invited communities to enrich the museum’s narratives with perspectives that have not yet been represented. The exhibition, housed within a single exhibition hall, showcases photographs, scale models, architectural drawings, and a podcast series available for listening. On the guided tour the exhibition is explored and discussed together with the guide.
