Into the Loop -workshop

Explore the world of mending knits and learn to repair a broken sock or other knitted item in this workshop designed for both beginners and those who have previously worked with mending and darning.
The workshops are held in connection with the FIX: Care and Repair exhibition on the FIX Stage at the Design Museum on Saturdays once a month from 15:00 to 17:00. The workshop is aimed at young people and adults, and it teaches how to mend socks, knits, and other woven textiles.
You can mend discreetly or create striking artwork at the spot of the hole. The workshop is led by craft teachers and experts who will assist you with your work. There are two instructors in the workshop. The workshop is conducted in Finnish, but the instructor can also assist in English.
The mission of the FIX: Care and Repair exhibition is to inspire everyone to get excited about mending and to become active fixers. Join us for a wonderful workshop moment of mending and darning!
Tools:
Bring along a knit item you want to repair.
Yarns according to your repaired item. Choose the colour based on whether you want the repair to be invisible or noticeable.
Your own tools: blunt needle, darning mushroom (if available)
If you don’t have your own knit item to repair and/or tools but still want to learn about repairing, you will receive a repairable knit patch and tools to use on site.

Participation
The event is held in Finnish, but the instructor can also assist in English. Participation with museum admission. Pre-registration is required for the event. The event can accommodate up to 15 participants on site.
