Pavillion for Encountering Otherness

How does moving beyond a human-centered conception of the world affect design thinking in architectural practice and how could it translate into architectural aesthetics? A Helsinki-based architecture collective meta architects is asking this through their two-year research project the Pavillion for Encountering Otherness. In the summer of 2022 meta arkkitehdit will build a sanctuary for microbes, plants, insects, birds and humans in the museum’s courtyard.

meta architects is a Helsinki-based architecture collective formed by Elina Koivisto and Maiju Suomi. The project is supported by The Alfred Kordelin Foundation and Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
